Annual Pack Activities
Pack 439 offers all scouts and their families the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities throughout the year. From regular meetings, to camping and hiking, to the Pinewood Derby and Blue and Gold Banquet, there is fun for everyone.
Regular Meetings

Regular meetings occur only during the school year.

Each Den will meet at lease once a month to complete formal scout advancement criteria. As a Den, scouts learn many skills, including fire safety, orienteering, teamwork, birding, outdoor preparedness and survival, and good sportsmanship.

All the Dens meet collectively once a month as a Pack. These meetings focus on reinforcing a strong sense of community and leadership by allowing scouts to lead their peers and families in the Pledge of Allegiance and Scout Oath. These meetings typically have guest speakers, community service themes, and fun activities.
Camping

Grab your air mattress, cot, tent, and mess kit and enjoy a weekend in the outdoors from the Shenandoah Valley to the battlefields of Gettysburg. The official BSA designation for this activity is "camping", although many in Pack 439 have unofficially adopted the term "glamping".

Camping trips occur three times a year, in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Scouts build skills related to outdoor tools, survival, and cooking while appreciating and learning to care for the natural world around us. Informal fun is plentiful during these weekends, as Scouts and families enjoy wiffleball, fishing, tag, card and board games, and telling stories.
Premier Events

Several times a year, the Pack hosts special events that bring the entire Pack 439 scouting community together. These are premier events that are also hosted by every other Cub Scout Pack in the nation and create a shared experience for our families. The premier events include:

Pinewood Derby - The "Super Bowl" of the Cub Scouting world

Blue & Gold Ceremony - A reflective and celebratory meal with families

Akela Ceremony - A celebratory graduation of scouts into their next Den
